Augmentation Mammaplasty (Breast Augmentation):

Breast augmentation enlarges a woman’s breasts and improves breast symmetry through the surgical placement of breast implants. In general, it is a cosmetic procedure performed to fulfill a personal desire for fuller breasts or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. Implants may sometimes be used for reconstructive purposes following mastectomy or injury (please see information regarding Breast Reconstruction below). Augmentation may be combined with a breast lift for the correction of sagging breasts.

Education Webinar Breast Augmentation Surgery - Presented by Dr. Sarah W. Holland

Mastopexy (Breast Lift):

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is surgery to uplift and improve the shape of the female breast that sags or is pendulous but is proportionate with the body frame, has lost firmness and elasticity, has a flatter, elongated shape or has an unsupported nipple and areola.

“Breast lifts, unlike breast reductions or breast augmentations, can be a great option for women who struggle with flat or drooping-shaped breasts, downward pointed nipples, stretched out skin or unevenness. The ASPS breast lift vlog takes you inside the OR with commentary from a board-certified plastic surgeon. Learn what the surgery entails, then check out the before and after gallery to see real results.” Watch Sarah W. Holland, MD on the ASPS Vlog here.

reduction Mammaplasty (Breast Reduction):

Breast reduction is a surgical procedure to reduce the size of large breasts that are disproportionate to a woman’s body and can cause physical pain. Technically called reduction mammaplasty, breast reduction improves breast size, shape and the associated conditions of large breasts that may include back, neck and shoulder pain or discomfort, restricted activity, skin irritation, sagging, stretched skin and/or an enlarged areola.

Liposuction, also called lipoplasty and suction lipectomy, is the surgical reduction of localized  or regional excess fatty tissue. There are common variations to the procedure, and Dr. Holland will determine which is right for you. Localized fat deposits of the breast or chest can be reduced with this procedure. This procedure may be performed alone or in combination with other procedures.

Breast Reconstruction:

Breast reconstruction is achieved through several reconstructive plastic surgery techniques to restore a breast to near normal shape, appearance and size following mastectomy and may include flap techniques, tissue expansion, surgical placement of a breast implant and grafting or other specialized techniques.

For years, I was uncomfortable with the way my clothes fit. I was self-conscious about the size of my breasts and felt everyone was looking at them, and not in a “good” way. I was not having any back or shoulder pain, so I knew my insurance company was not going to pay for a reduction. I finally made the decision to just do it for myself. I made an appointment with Dr. Holland. I liked her from the start. She took the time to explain the process and answered all my questions. I never felt rushed or like she needed to hurry to get to the next patient. She was very professional, kind and genuine and completely understood where I was coming from and what I was hoping for. I was confident I had chosen the right doctor to perform my reduction. The surgery went well. Several months later, I ended up with a hypertrophic scar. Dr. Holland had me come in right away to address the problem. I am thankful for the care I received from Dr. Holland. She made this a very positive experience for me. I only wish I had done it sooner! I would not hesitate to contact her again for anything in the future, and I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone.*
