For several years thereafter, she thrived out west, perfecting her skills. Her commitment to excellence and passion for transformative treatments earned her recognition as a trusted expert in the field. Hope's desire to expand her knowledge and passion for skincare led her to pursue an Aesthetics License in 2018 from the Spa Tech Institute in Westbrook, ME. This additional qualification opened new avenues for her, allowing her to integrate traditional facial services seamlessly with her laser-based treatments. It’s generally recommended that out-of-town patients plan to arrive at least 24-48 hours before surgery. Dr. Holland also recommends staying locally for at least 48-72 hours after your surgery in case any complications arise. This length of time may increase depending on what type of procedure you have. I come from a long line of cooks, and I’ve always been the helper—and eventually the cook—in the kitchen. I never understood the “food is fuel” mentality. To me, food has always been joy and comfort. But for as long as I can remember—since around age 10—I’ve struggled with my weight. While my family provided balanced meals, we also always had an abundance of snacks. My attempts at weight loss were often crash diets that cut carbs and calories drastically. Nothing was sustainable. By January 2024, I was at my heaviest. I felt it in every way: constant bloating, body aches, shortness of breath after climbing stairs, and the embarrassment of struggling to keep up with friends. The “food noise” was overwhelming—I was thinking about my next meal before I even finished the current one. Despite including fruits, vegetables, and protein, my portions and carb intake were excessive. In February 2024, I started GLP-1 medication (Semaglutide) and began tracking my intake with MyFitnessPal. Initially, I experienced intensified GI symptoms—heartburn, cramping, and constipation—which I now believe were due to titrating my dose too quickly. I also became slightly nutritionally deficient around 6 months in, which helped me focus more seriously on hitting protein targets. Now, I consistently consume 80–100 grams of protein daily, with healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables rounding out my diet. I still eat carbs—but in moderation. The most impactful change? The food noise stopped. I wasn’t obsessing over food anymore. I could finally focus on how I felt, not just what I craved. Today, I’m down 55 pounds. My labs look great, I feel energized, and movement is so much easier. I can hike with my friends again without needing a break. While I haven’t been consistent with exercise yet, I’ve invested in a weight bench and barbell and am excited to start lifting now that I’ve finished school. My goal is to lose another 30–40 pounds—and eventually, I may even explore skin removal surgery to complete my transformation.
