comprehensive consultation with dr. holland

Patients have the opportunity to ask questions and express concerns about potential risks and recovery. Dr. Holland ensures a supportive environment for informed decision-making, making patient comfort a priority due to the sensitive nature of the procedure. This approach aims for a satisfying outcome and enhanced confidence.

what to expect

Throughout the labiaplasty process, patients receive personalized care and support. Following the initial consultation, they'll receive pre-operative instructions. The vast majority of procedures are comfortably performed in our office under local anesthesia. After the procedure, patients have follow-up appointments for monitoring and care. Recovery involves managing discomfort and swelling, with gradual improvement in the treated area over several weeks. The final results, including enhanced comfort and confidence, become evident as healing progresses. Patients can expect guidance, communication, and support from our experienced medical team throughout, aiming for a positive experience and satisfying outcome.

things to consider before moving forward with a labiaplasty:

  • Maximum discomfort should occur in the first few days, improving each day thereafter.

  • Bruising, even significant bruising is common around the vaginal and labial areas. This typically resolves over 1-3 weeks.

  • Swelling is very common after surgery. It usually takes several weeks to fully resolve.

Labiaplasty is the surgical reduction of the labia minora, the inner lips of the vaginal wall. There can be minimal discomfort associated with the procedure and the sutures that are used dissolve on their own. The goal of the procedure is to reduce asymmetry when one is longer than the other, or to reduce the length of both labia so that the labia no longer twist, tug or fall out of a bathing suit.

post-treatment care

After a labiaplasty, Dr. Holland is accessible around the clock to address any urgent issues that may arise. Patients should keep the surgical area clean and dry to prevent infection, wear loose clothing, and avoid strenuous activities. Swelling and discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication and cool compresses. Regular follow-up appointments with Dr. Holland are important to monitor healing progress. Sexual activity should be avoided until cleared by Dr. Holland, usually a minimum of 4 weeks. Following these instructions promotes optimal healing and results.

beforehand about having a procedure on such a private area of my body. She instilled confidence in her ability to easily achieve the results I was looking for, and then she delivered. My labiaplasty removed the parts of my labia that hung down while keeping my vulva looking mature and natural (I didn’t want to look like a prepubescent girl or a doll). I did have one stitch pop open a few days after surgery, but it was through no fault of Dr. Holland, and she expertly revised the affected area a few weeks later. I do have faint scars on each side of my labia, but they are only visible if I look for them. There is no way someone who wasn’t looking for them would ever notice. I highly recommend Dr. Holland and her staff!
